Popeyes Charlton: Putting the Real Restaurant on Google Street View

Popeyes Charlton Google Street View Virtual Tour

Popeyes Louisiana Chicken opened at Greenwich Shopping Park in Charlton in 2025. But Google Street View outside still shows the former Frankie & Benny’s, in imagery from April 2021.

Customers checking Google Maps before a visit saw a restaurant that no longer exists. 360 View created a Google Street View virtual tour, also called a Google Maps virtual tour, that puts the real Popeyes on Google. Now customers can step inside before they set off.

The result: more than 2,000 views in the first seven days.

The Challenge: Google Showed a Restaurant That No Longer Exists

This happens to many new businesses. Google’s Street View car may not return to a street for years. Until it does, Google shows whatever was there before: the old name, the old sign, the old business.

For a new restaurant, that is a real problem. People choose where to eat on their phone, often in seconds. If Google shows the wrong place, they may simply choose somewhere else.

A Google Street View virtual tour on the Google Business Profile is the fastest way to fix this. Customers see the current entrance, the dining area and the atmosphere, exactly as they are today.

What the Restaurant Virtual Tour Shows

The tour reveals a bright, spacious restaurant. Floor-to-ceiling windows run along three sides of the building. There is generous space between tables, and the kitchen, toilets and storage sit at the rear, away from the dining area.

Visitors get more than a picture. They understand the size, the layout and the feel of the restaurant, and can picture their meal there before they choose where to eat.

Photographing While the Restaurant Stayed Open

We photographed Popeyes on a sunny morning. Natural light poured through the large windows, brightening the room and bringing out the brand colours.

Customers came and went, and delivery riders collected orders. We worked around them: photographing one side of the dining area while guests sat on the other, and waiting for clear moments so people and passing cars would not distract from the finished tour. Service carried on as normal.

After the visit, every image was edited by hand, with the tripod and shadows removed. We then planned the navigation so moving through the restaurant feels natural, and published the tour to Google.

More Than 2,000 Views in Seven Days

More than 2,000 people opened the tour in its first week on Google Maps. Every one of them saw the real Popeyes, not the restaurant that closed.

For a new branch, that is fast, visible proof that customers are looking. And the restaurant now looks the way it should on Google, from day one.

Trusted by Businesses Across Greenwich and Charlton

Popeyes is not our first project in this part of London. Our Street View photography of nearby businesses has been viewed millions of times on Google Maps. A single photograph of Waitrose Greenwich has passed 2 million views, Makro Charlton 1.5 million, ODEON Greenwich nearly 1 million and IKEA Greenwich 800,000.

Restaurant owners see the difference too. One restaurant client wrote on Google that the tour “helped us significantly in attracting more customers.” 360 View is rated 4.9 from over 70 Google reviews. For another restaurant example, see our tour of Giovanni’s Caffè and Pizzeria in Cambridge.

Google itself reports that people are 70% more likely to visit a business with a complete Business Profile. A virtual tour is part of that profile.

In the Heart of Charlton’s Shopping Area

Greenwich Shopping Park sits on Bugsby’s Way, within the Charlton Riverside retail area. Its shops include Boots, Lidl, Superdrug, TK Maxx, JD Sports and Dunelm, with Asda, Sainsbury’s and M&S close by.

People come here for food, fashion, homeware and everyday shopping. Popeyes is a natural place to stop for a meal, and for anyone who does not know the area, the tour is a useful preview before they arrive.

Opening New Branches? Start Each One Right on Google

Popeyes UK is expanding across the UK, and every new restaurant faces the same risk: Google may still show the business that was there before. A Google Street View virtual tour on each new branch shows customers the real restaurant from opening day.

360 View already works with multi-site brands, including Everyman cinemas and Veteris veterinary hospitals. One consistent plan covers every site, while each branch keeps its own character. There are no travel fees anywhere in the UK or Europe.

Questions About Google Street View Virtual Tours for Restaurants

Can a Google Street View virtual tour help when Street View still shows a previous business?

Yes. 360 View publishes the virtual tour to the restaurant’s Google Business Profile, so customers see the current interior and entrance on Google Maps and Google Search. At Popeyes Charlton, Street View outside still showed the former Frankie & Benny’s. The tour now shows customers the real restaurant.

Can 360 View photograph a restaurant while it is open?

Yes. 360 View plans each session around the restaurant’s opening hours and works between customers and delivery collections. At Popeyes Charlton, the capture took about two hours and service carried on as normal. Our preparation guide explains how to get your space ready.

How long does a Google Street View virtual tour take to go live?

A small Google Street View virtual tour from 360 View is usually live within 5 to 7 working days. In that time we edit the images, build the tour, publish it to your Google Business Profile, and Google processes it across Maps and Search. Larger tours can take a little longer.

How much does a Google Street View virtual tour for a restaurant cost?

A Google Street View virtual tour from 360 View starts from £247 and is priced on the number of 360° photos needed.
